    Aims and scope

The International Journal of Early Childhood Education [IJECE], a research journal of the Korean Society for Early Childhood Education [KSECE], is an international and interdisciplinary journal that publishes empirical and theoretical studies on all topics relating to early childhood education and care. IJECE began in 1996, with one issue per year, but began publishing two issues bi-annually in 2002.

KSECE, established in 1975, is the oldest academic association in the field of Early Childhood Education (ECE) in South Korea. It has more than 1,800 research members across the country and 7 regional affiliate chapters. It hosts two domestic conferences every year as well as biennial international conferences. KSECE publishes both Korean (Research of Early Childhood Education) and English journals (International Journal of Early Childhood Education), and has been at the forefront of development and progress of ECE in South Korea.

    Open Access

IJECE is a scholarly, online, open-access, and peer-reviewed journal. Publishing open access means that your article will be free to access online immediately after publication, increasing the visibility, readership, and impact of your research.

Please note that this journal only publishes manuscripts in English. IJECE accepts the following types of article: Original Articles.

    Peer Review Policy:

All submitted articles undergo rigorous peer-reviewing, based on initial editor screening and anonymized refereeing by at least three referees. However, manuscripts that were orally presented or that were awarded poster excellence at the KSECE conference within the last one year are sent for formal review to two primary referees, instead of three referees. If needed, authors may be requested to revise their manuscripts.

    Preparing the Manuscript:

    Word Limit:

    Manuscript Structure:

The paper should be in the MS Word format within 1330 pages and would range between 5000 to 9000 words. The first page should contain a short abstract of not more than 100200 words.

    Style:

The style guidelines of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA Style) should be followed, especially for reference lists and text citation of sources.

Each table and figure must be placed at their intended places in the text, given a caption, and numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals. Authors also enclose reproducible originals of all figures and tables, separately as attachments. Graphs and charts must be professionally prepared and may be submitted as original black ink drawings or sharp black-and-white photographic reproductions. Colored illustrations should be avoided and all figures and tables should be printed in black and white.

    Footnotes and References:

Acknowledgements, grant numbers, or other credits should be mentioned in a separate, asterisked footnote at their intended place. All sources cited in the text must be included in the reference list and vice versa.
